The Belize Constitution Chapter IV, revised edition 2003 provides for the separation of powers historically held by the Public Services Commission among three different Commissions, as follows:
- The Public Service Commission
- The Security Services Commission
- The Judicial and Legal Services Commission
The Chairman of the Public Services Commission shall be a member and Chairman for all three Commissions. The Security Services Commission and the Judicial and Legal Services Commission have additional responsibility for setting terms and conditions of service for public officers under their jurisdiction.
